As part of a Global Cost Optimisation initiative, a leading Investment Bank was relocating Technology and Operation functions from New York City to Florida.

Our approach:

Charles Alan provided resources such as Program and Project Managers, Business Analysts, and Test Managers to oversee the migration of technology services.

During the migration, Charles Alan worked with the Client’s Head of Talent to identify and hire key positions for the organisation.

Client: Leading Investment Bank

Client Challenge: Implementation of T+2 for 2052A Regulatory Reporting

The client asked Charles Alan to provide advisory support for the Tplsu2 project, which seeks to implement changes to its 2052a reporting so that it can be produced on a daily T+2 basis. Additionally, the 2052a report would have to be implemented to comply with Category III 2052a reporting requirements as outlined by Reg YY. The project focused on completing the testing of implemented initiatives.

Following the initial review of current process, the Client asked Charles Alan to implement a comprehensive transformation of the Bank’s regulatory reporting function, including the establishment of a control framework, development of governance and accountability disciplines (across data and processes), and the automation of the regulatory reporting process.

Our Approach:

Identified a Programme lead for the multi-year initiative.
Interpreted Fed guidance for FR2052a Inflow/Outflow and Supplemental tables and provide solutions to the client for any gaps in reporting.
Developed Proof of Concept for Liquidity reporting methodology to ensure consistent reporting of FR2052a transactional level data to US Federal Reserve
Worked with stakeholders in Treasury, Audit and Liquidity Risk to remediate and resolve any MRA/MRIA’s aka Matter Requiring Attention/Immediate Attention raised by US Federal Reserve related to Liquidity Reporting
Created solutions with Technology & Operations teams to streamline variance analysis and commentary processes for FR2052a LCR/NSFR submissions.
Created end to end Business Requirements Document for reporting missing transactional data related to Failed Settlements under Inflow-Assets & Outflow-Secured tables.
Assisted in testing & reconciling end to end transactional flow across various internal systems to ensure consistent reporting which matches firm’s books & records
Assisted the Liquidity Measurement & Reporting team in ensuring that appropriate variance checks are in place for daily T+2 reporting and LCR/NSFR XML submissions on a T+15 basis.
Assisted financial reporting teams within the organization to ensure appropriate validation & control checks are in place to reconcile & align regulatory reports v/s financial reporting data.

Outcome & Results:

Successfully accelerated the delivery within a 9-month timeframe to remediate numerous MRAs with the implementation of new and enhanced controls and processes, new attestations, and system implementations, covering both vendor and in-house developed.

Enhanced and automate regulatory reporting processes using new technologies/platforms including Axiom, Wdesk, Alteryx, Qliksense thereby eliminating/reducing manual adjustments.

Automated control checks and strengthen existing rules & procedures across the liquidity reporting stack to ensure minimal error rate in regulatory submissions.

Client Challenge:

We were asked by the Client to deliver identity access management and professional services consulting to address IAM, PAM, and PEM needs in multiple enterprise networks. The team of Architects designed and oversaw the architecture for Centrify Identity and Access Management Project as well.

What We Did:

Responsible for the design of Centrify architecture to address customers IAM, PAM, and PEM needs.

Provide support designing, installing, implementing, and configuring all aspects of Centrify products including Infrastructure Services, Privilege Access Service, and Direct Audit

Wrote custom scripts for Centrify tasks including API calls.

Responsible for maintaining all paperwork detailing all work activities, timesheets, and expense reports and submitting them on time.

This includes working with stakeholders across Information, Audit, Risk and Compliance teams to identify, catalog, and document all related policy controls, access, and audit procedures.

Develop risk mitigation strategies based on MITRE Attack Framework and SANS as part of working with SOC for Incident Response

Outcome & Results:

Provide ongoing support designing, installing, implementing, and configuring all aspects of Centrify products including Infrastructure Services, Privilege Access Service, and Direct Audit

Client Challenge: Establishment of a Programme Management function for a strategic regulatory reporting initiative

Asked by the Client to manage the oversight and delivery of requirements for the strategic financial regulatory reporting required by regulating governing bodies predominately in US, UK and Germany.

Our Approach:

Create the Project Initiation Document (PID) and baseline project plans from inputs from work stream leads.
Status updates and production of regular and ad-hoc reports, capturing and reporting of Programme benefits and achievements.
Creation of fortnightly OpCo Packs for the US.
Maintained & monitored project plans and schedules: includes tracking of key project milestones, risks and issues and proactively highlighting potential impacts to project delivery providing an independent view of project health.
Organised and managed 18,000 project plans based on the Bank’s finance data and project scopes.
Implemented the governance model; defined project deliverables, ensured timely updates and delivery of Programme deliverables, updated and maintained component plan templates received from the business unit.
Ensured robust daily and weekly tracking of 190,000 project milestones across various projects, for reporting to directors, key stakeholders and the FRBNY.
Maintained the FRY9c Metrics Tracker, producing a real time refection of deliverables; this included reporting on data trends and analysis, risks and issues, as well as variance reporting while liaising with stakeholders for approaching deadlines.
Monitoring resource utilisation, reconciling headcount, oversight of project timesheets, & support for resource off-boarding.
Ensure accuracy in financial reporting and forecasts through tracking and monitoring of actuals to budget and perform monthly forecast updates.

Outcome and Results:

Not only did we successfully hand over the Programme Management function for the Client to run independently, but the initiative was delivered on time to the respective governing bodies as well.

Re-organised the existing, and underperforming, delivery capability to remove silos and create multiple cross functional delivery teams.

Selection, negotiation, and on-boarding of a 3rd party product to provide a market leading data analytics platform.

Outcome and Results

We delivered commercial products across risk and data analytics generating £38m. We also improved delivery velocity by 30%, delivered a 3x increase in deployment frequency and reduced production defect rates to zero.
